Welcome to the Course Wiki Soapbox! The term is a metaphore for inofficial public speaking and derives from the idea of an improvised raised platform, such as a large, wooden box. Speaker's corner in London's Hyde Park is famous for its Sunday soapbox orators who assemble to share their opinions with the community. A modern version of the Soapbox is of course the blog.
