Create a multi-FASTA file ...

... from a column in a table on a Webpage

  1. Copy the entire table from the Webpage
  2. Paste it into an MSWord document. It should appear as a table.
  3. By clicking on the top-border of the table you can select columns
  4. Delete all columns you don't need
  5. Select the table
  6. Use the menu Table > convert > convert table to text ...
  7. Replace all paragraph marks ("^p") with commas
  8. Copy this comma separated list of identifiers
  9. Paste it into the search field on the NCBI homepage, set your search to "Protein" and click on "Go"
  10. In the resulting list, click the checkbox for all entries you want (or none to get all), use the menu buttons to "Display FASTA" "Show {more than the number of sequences you have}" and "send to Text".
  11. save the result as a text-file. Done.
